Oracle Database Administrator
This position is responsible for administering all aspects of Oracle database operations, including PeopleSoft and other mission critical applications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Creates and maintains Oracle databases for multiple development, testing and production environments
Develops and maintains capacity plans for all databases. Assists with impact analysis of any changes to database objects
Manage the promotion to production of ERP and supporting applications and database changes and upgrades
Monitors and troubleshoots database performance and tunes queries and database configurations as required
Applies security and on-going patches to all database environments
Coordinates, plans, and documents the installation and configuration of new database versions and environments
Coordinates with systems administrators to configure proactive monitoring and recovery plans of Oracle databases
Configures and maintains data guard replication to multiple environments for BI, DR, and support of QA and Dev. efforts
Administers all database objects such as tables, clusters, indexes, views, and packages, and enforces security
Performs preventive database maintenance to maintain database performance
Provides operational leadership and project management oversight
Provides routine management reports
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Masters degree in Computer Systems or related field and four (4) years of database administration experience with emphasis on Oracle databases in Linux environment; or Bachelors degree in Computer Systems or related field and eight (8) years of related experience. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Proficiency in communication skills (written and oral)
Proficiency with Oracle Backup and Recovery and Data Guard replication
Possess experience with Oracle, Oracle database server adminitration and other monitoring tools
Possess experience in Oracle database security implementation and administration
Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
Possess strong project management skills with the ability to ensure completion of department initiatives and recommendations
Knowledge and familiarity with formal software development methodologies and release cycles
Knowledge and familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
Proficiency in shell scripting such as ksh, bsh, tcsh, sh, as well as PL/SQL programming
Ability to effectively present information to top management, IT personnel, and District organizations
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
