RESERVOIR ENGINEER – Houston
One of the most active private funds in the United States this organization has been prominent in several of the industry’s most recent domestic transactions. To support planned growth they are now actively looking for an experienced Reservoir Engineer to join the Acquisitions and Divestments group. This role will work directly with end clients to assess and confirm resource estimates helping to bring together key industry deals. To be considered you must have a significant history of working in a Reservoir Engineering function for a small to medium sized operator focused on domestic US assets. In additional a demonstrated commitment to further education, particularly business relation qualifications would be looked on favorably.
Key Responsibilities:
• Learn the responsibilities of the Business Unit Reserves Coordinator (BURC) as noted below
• Become an expert in reserves process, tools and computer systems providing support to the various BUs as requested
• Support Senior Reserves Coordinator and Director – Reserves with analysis of reserves, production, financial and other related data from the Business Units, as required
– BURC Responsibilities:
◦ Responsible for coordinating BU Reserves and resource management system and processes
◦ Be the BU “go to” eserves process expert; maintain up-to-date knowledge on Reserves issues and practices
◦ Provides guidance and advice to BU technical personnel on Reserves matters including both interpretation and procedural items, holding periodic meetings as required
◦ Understands the business impact of Reserves changes, specifically on performance metrics and, consistent with policy and procedure, analyzes Reserves data and provide change recommendations to BU personnel as appropriate.
◦ Coordinates closely with Planning personnel to ensure consistency between reserves ledger changes and reserves changes as reported in BU Business Plans and Capital Post Audits
◦ Maintain record of follow-up issues and action items from the TRRT review and work with BU teams to complete, identify systemic areas for improvement
◦ Ensure various reserve records and documentation are properly prepared and maintained including accuracy in changes, consistency with policy and timely completion
◦ Supports the annual Standardized Measure of Oil and Gas (SMOG) reporting for the BUs;
◦ Focal point for resolving problems between PEEP and petroLOOK
◦ Coordinate the development of the recommended OOGC Cost Model(s) with FP&A
◦ Supports the submittal and clarification of Reserves Outlook(s)
◦ Act as liaison with Reserves for EIA-23 report generation and in responding to any corporate tax valuation issues where reserve quantities are involved
◦ Provide gap filling support to various BUs as requested and as time allows
◦ Complete special projects as requested
EXPERIENCE
Required:
• BS/MS/PhD degree in Engineering or related field of Science
• Proficiency in database and data management software
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, with 2 years of reservoir engineering experience
• Knowledge of and experience in economic evaluation and use of commercial software for petroleum project economic analysis (e.g., Merak/Schlumberger PEEP, PHDWin, ARIES, etc.)
• Knowledge of oil and gas reserve estimation and reporting including estimation methods and reserve/resource definitions
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work with diverse team members in worldwide locations
• Self-motivated and adaptable: can analyze problems and find solutions; can learn quickly and apply technical skills to resolve issues
• Excellent skills in presentation, computational and documentation software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
• Willingness to travel including outside the USA
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage work responsibilities for several projects concurrently
