Reservoir Engineer – Los Angeles and Houston
Responsibilities may include:
Under the supervision of the New Ventures Exploration Manager, serves as a team member to build and execute the reservoir development plan including providing reservoir engineering support for exploratory potential, resource evaluation, optimization of assets, and new opportunity evaluation. Understands and follows all safety procedures. Works within an extended multidisciplinary team to establish and achieve team goals. Expands and maintains a detailed exploration opportunity inventory and drilling schedule. Identifies and evaluates reservoir exploration and exploitation opportunities including economic analysis. Prepares production forecasts and EUR determination and uses modeling and simulations to determine resource uncertainty ranges. Performs decline curve analysis of existing wells and extrapolate to future well EUR expectations using reservoir and probabilistic modeling tools. Evaluates well performance and performs resource or reserves analysis and booking. Participates in the business processes including long range planning (LRP), Budget forecasting, and Exploration Inventory Database documentation. Works with the team of geoscientists and engineers to develop, manage, and execute short and long-term resource development plans. Performs post-audit reviews on capital projects and incorporates those findings into the inventory. Understands and applies decision and risk analysis techniques to projects. Evaluates reservoir recovery efficiency and providing production optimization support. Works effectively with other groups to define surface risks and challenges, including regulatory and facilities engineering organizations. Participates in ongoing assessments of competitive landscape and reconnaissance of industry activity with participation in periodic Team and Management reviews. Provides reservoir engineering support, as needed, for acquisitions or divestitures. Actively engages with the broader reservoir engineering community participating in knowledge-sharing activities with corporate experts and other unconventional/conventional exploration groups.
Qualifications
Basic/Required:
Successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Master’s degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering and 3 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry including experience in unconventional/conventional resources, building and executing reservoir development plans, supporting drilling operations, evaluating growth opportunities with potential for significant additional resource levels; preparing production and reserves forecasts to support surface facility optimization; and contributing to the long range goals and budget inputs.
In lieu of Master’s degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering and 3 years of experience, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering and 5 years of progressive engineering experience in the oil and gas industry including experience in unconventional/conventional resources, building and executing reservoir development plans, supporting drilling operations, evaluating growth opportunities with potential for significant additional resource levels; preparing production and reserves forecasts to support surface facility optimization; and contributing to the long range goals and budget inputs.
