POSITION DESCRIPTION:
BASIC SUMMARY:
Perform analysis, design, creation and maintenance strategies of data warehouse related systems managed by the Business Intelligence and Enterprise Reporting team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft business intelligence specifications. Compile results, analyze data and work with business unit to mine relational databases.
Model data according to market research.
Interact with business analysts, quality assurance and other IT peers regularly.
Model or create database to house source data into a normalized data warehouse model.
Perform quality assurance by validating information, processes and program changes created by others in team.
Design software and implement integration tools which will be used to further develop Business Intelligence strategy.
Work with members in Information Technology (IT) to accomplish development of current and future goals including the integration of additional source systems into the enterprise data warehouse system.
Translate user requirements into workable programming modules to create software.
Help implement design or strategy of Business Intelligence Department.
Participate in strategy meetings, analyze objectives and recommend solutions for short and long term planning.
Work with external consulting companies as well as business analysts and other IT specialists.
Help business units with identified issues in operations and translate cases by segmenting data and find where to extract and pull information into the data warehouse.
Create interactive reporting queries, as needed.
Aid in design, creation, and maintenance of Hyperion Interactive Reporting and Essbase models.
Work with external consulting companies as well as business users and the IT department.
Assist with design and development of multi-dimensional databases systems.
Add increased functionality to build relational database analytical solutions.
Perform online analytical processing (OLAP) to create data cubes, star schemas and snowflakes if required.
Assist with special projects, as assigned by management.
Perform other job related functions as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 6-years relational database experience in data warehousing required, backend integration or batch based systems. Experience with relational database technologies, PL/SQL and thorough experience with SQL on an Oracle RDBMS platform. Graphical user interface application experience preferred. Experience in quality assurance testing, preferably in the area of large data set integrity assessment preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Strong analytical abilities, a thorough understanding of building data models in large quantities (terabytes).
Knowledge of Cast Iron.
Knowledge of business intelligence systems and revenue management practices.
Excellent analytical skills and organizational skills to gather and document business requirements.
Verbal and written communication skills to thoroughly prepare specifications make recommendations and effectively work with internal and external members.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload.
Ability to work on a rotational on-call schedule which may include evenings and weekend hours, according to business demands.
