The Senior Network Engineer position is based in Austin, TX
The selected candidate will perform the following functions:
Evaluating and creating proposals for technology architectures that cross multiple IT areas – IP data Networks (routing/switching), Load Balancers, Firewalls, PBX/IPT integration, Virtualized Client/Server environments and Voice/Video over IP networks. Interface with Sr. Management on business requirements/goals and translate them into technical specifications with solution proposals.
Cross-train and knowledge transfer technology principles to implementation and services teams.
Author architecture and design proposals aligned to business requirements. Lead proof of concept engagements and evaluate next generation architectures and solutions.
Fully manage the complete life-cycle of a project engagement, including research, design, planning, implementation, operations and project management. Re-architect current implementations to optimize design and functionality.
Provide Top level escalation support for Engineers in implementations and troubleshooting teams. Lead cross-functional training for engineering teams on specific solutions. Document and present design and implementation proposals to Sr. Management for approval.
Research new and existing technologies and provide recommendations. Lead efforts to secure the Enterprise Network by evaluating and implementing advanced network security features.
Support the Plan, Design and implementation of Voice over IP (VoIP) Networks, including development of configurations Implement switching technologies, including Spanning-Tree (Detect/Remove Loops), CEF (Express Forwarding), ISSU (In-Service Software Updates) and Net Flow (Network Analyzers)
Implement routing protocols, including OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol). Implement network features, including QoS (Quality of Service), EEM (Embedded Event Manager), BFD (Bi-Directional Forwarding Detection), and High Availability (HA) such as HSRP (Hot Standby Router Protocol) & VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol).
Troubleshooting and problem solving for network and application issues. Configure and assist with implementation of network hardware, including routers, switches, VoIP
Desired Skills and Experience Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field and/or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 12 years of network and/or telecommunications engineering experience.
Strong technical project management and engineering skills are mandatory
Strong network documentation skills and can publish written standards for use by network to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
Excellent customer service focus and analytical problem solving abilities Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster recovery strategies for testing and verification of technical network solutions established for recovery operations
Preferred Qualifications:
Must have experience with Nexus 5, & 7K
Cisco CCNP and/or CCDP. Cisco CCIE certification is a plus.
Knowledge of Remedy Force, Microsoft Visio knowledge of Cisco IOS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF and MPLS environments.
In-depth hands on experience with HP, Cisco Catalyst 35xx, 37xx, 65xx (Sup 720), 45xx, 38xx series equipment, F5 Load Balancers, Fortinet Fortigate Firewalls In-depth knowledge of IP traffic flow, protocol analysis, capturing and monitoring of live traffic streams.
Ability to document all aspects of network and services provided to users. LAN/WAN technologies. (CCIE level preferred).
Experience with VoIP telephony solutions on an enterprise network. SIP Trunking to PSTN experience a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Cisco switches including Catalyst 3750s, 4500s & 6500s. Nexus (1k, 4k, 5k, 7k) required. Expertise in ASR (Aggregation Services Routers) Routing technology Advanced knowledge of designing, implementation and troubleshooting L3 routing protocols including EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), OSPF, BGP, MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching).
Experience with wireless networking design and implementation.
Hands-on design and implementation of Quality of Service Solutions. Voice and Multimedia experience over an IP network. SIP protocol and SIP Trunking.
