Carvechi is seeking for a full time Director of IT Operations based in Chicago, IL with experience in Database and IT Project Manager to work in a fast-paced, cross-platform MAC/OS, Windows environment. This a newly created position and part of the responsibilities will be serving as the Project Manager for a Mellon Foundation grant that will overseeing the creation of a new online platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance of the organization’s FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Access, MYSQL, HTML5 and Drupal databases including updates, modifications, additional programming, etc.
Maintenance of the organization’s system architecture and IT network consisting of approximately 30 Windows workstations and Windows 2008 server running Xendata HSM, a NAS Appliance, an LTO-4 Library, 2 Apple X-Serve Servers; Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, validating and implementing critical system patches, installing server hardware, and allocating mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Develop standards and methods of reliable interoperability between all of the software systems.
Analyze the organization’s data requirements in order to support the business processes within the scope of the organizations’ capabilities;
Front tier support for a digital video network and archival network comprised of a Database administrator for organization’s Microsoft Access, MYSQL, FileMaker and Drupal databases ensuring the accuracy, interconnectivity of all system databases;

Supervisory Responsibilities: Has the authority to direct the daily work activities of assigned team members in coordination with their manager (when applicable). Has the authority to recommend the following actions; hiring, termination and corrective action.
Written/Verbal Communication: Handles broad-based complex information in support of the project. Presents to team, vendor, stakeholder and client audiences. Can negotiate, motivate and persuade others.
Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent is required. Experience with web-design standards and methods required. Generalized knowledge of video hosting services (like Ensemble), responsive video delivery platforms (e.g. cell, tablets, laptops, desktops, etc.), HTML5, Amazon Web Services, SQL, Drupal (or equivalent) and C++ are desired, but not required if equivalent experience can be offered.
Collaboration/Service: Has frequent contact with project team, client, vendors and project stakeholders.
Problem Solving: Must develop problem solutions using substantial creativity, resourcefulness, innovation, negotiation and diplomacy.
Bachelor’s degree: Required
Certificate: Project Management Professional (PMP) – Preferred
Budget Responsibilities: Monitoring and reporting on project budget.

Strong technical skills in a variety of applications and web tools. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to be an effective communicator with technical staff, project team, client, vendor(s) and stakeholders. Ability to work with various constituencies and facilitate collaboration between them. Experience required with software development methodologies, managing diverse and challenging multifunctional teams, bringing groups to a common understanding and delivering successful outcomes.
