The Systems Administrator based in Austin, TX. The person will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating all data collection, analysis and recommendations for the ITS environment. The Sys Admin will work closely with the Practice Areas to assess conditions, support capacity building initiatives, and facilitate the collection of quality data.
Experience with Orion Solar Winds is a Plus?
Primary Responsibilities
Support all monitoring initiatives including but not limited to:
Working with Practice Areas to customize reports and alerts that meet expectations
Acknowledge and work through support tickets pertaining to monitoring in a timely manner
Maintain and administer the monitoring system of record; applying updates, configuration changes, etc
Create process documentation and update documentation when changes are made
Follow Change Management Process
Data Management and Analysis
Keep abreast of development and recommend tools and strategies to increase performance and results
Suggest ways to facilitate data collection and the flow of data within ITS
Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and management systems and propose solutions along with management.
Analyze changes and patters in KPI indicator data and performance reports in order to support practice areas.
Ability to help troubleshoot when needed
Communication and Reporting
Attend ITS maintenance planning meeting to evaluate impact of systems/tools
Review and Analyze weekly reports with management
Raise concerns immediately if anything looks concerning within the monitoring tool
System Administration
Build virtual machines requested by customers
Improve monitoring environment by implementing upgrades
Write and update runbooks and standard operating procedures based on process improvements
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
1 – 3 years of monitoring and evaluation experience
Ability to produce high-quality reports
3-5 years System Administration Experience
